Haflinger History
Horses have been one of the most useful animals for thousands of years. They used to be the fastest and surest way to travel. They had many uses such as hunting, running, carrying, pulling and packing.
The Haflinger is no exception. They originated from the Austrian Alps and are sometimes known as "mountain ponies." Considered a draft breed, yet smaller in stature made them the ideal working horse.
Their golden bodies and white tails are their trademark, thus the name "golden ponies" was given as well. Today, Haflingers are still used as a working horse but have branched out to become strong contenders in many kinds of competitions, as well as an everyday family horse. Presently, Haflingers are found in many areas of the world and their popularity is increasing due to their personality and versatility.
